Our Team
We are a team of two: Dave Woods is the owner/proprietor, woodworker, and craftsman. Mark Harmon is the student/helper, currently serving an informal apprenticeship.
Dave has 45+ years of experience in woodworking. He not only has a passion for creating and building products, but he also enjoys sharing his experience by teaching and training Mark and helping him learn and understand usage and techniques with different woodworking tools, as well as various species of wood.

At Woodsy’s Woods, we strive to be the very best at what we do!
Quality craftmanship, first rate materials, eye-catching products, mixed with friendly and professional customer service, are just a few of the ways we make this happen.
“Don’t worry about being famous or making money; the most important thing is being the best. You have to become a master of your craft, and everything else will come.”

Dave Woods
Woodworker & Craftsman
Dave first became interested in woodworking at the age of 12 years old, while working on his very first project, which happened to be refinishing and restoring a grandfather clock that was almost one hundred years older, and nearly two feet taller than he was at the time.
He began by completely removing the mechanical portions of the clock, including the face, weights, chains, and chimes from the wood cabinet. He then spent three to four hours each day, meticulously sanding the surfaces of the cabinet, most of which were intricately hand carved.
After more than a month of sanding by hand, he refinished the cabinet using two coats of cherry stain and topped it with a coat of clear polyurethane to give it a nice glossy shimmer. Finally, he reinstalled the mechanical portions and hardware into the finished cabinet. The entire project took three months to complete.
With this first woodworking project, Dave’s interest and passion for woodworking grew into a lifelong hobby. He has maintained his woodworking passion for more than 45 years and has widely broadened his woodworking experience.
He and his dad built a 20’ X 20’ addition onto the house that Dave grew up in. This addition became his first dedicated woodworking shop space. He completed many projects in this shop. It was also the beginning of the “Woodsy’s Woods” name.
Dave moved from his childhood home in Arizona, to Southwest Missouri, in 2014. Unfortunately, he had to leave his woodworking tools and space behind and was not able to continue woodworking for quite a while. However, recently he had a new modular building delivered, and was finally able to retrieve his woodworking tools that had been stored in the shop at the home where it all started.
Dave and his new informal apprentice, Mark, spent nine months transforming the new 12’ X 20’ modular building into the new “Woodsy’s Woods” woodworking shop. Custom designing everything about it, to be exactly the way they wanted and needed it. Installing electricity, lighting, insulation, pegboard (covers all interior walls), ceiling, cabinets, workbench, tools and equipment!
Dave builds game boards, jewelry boxes, children’s toys, logic puzzles, cutting boards, wedding and other special occasion items, and more. In addition to these, he occasionally builds furniture pieces. Sanding, refinishing, repairing, and restoring furniture is also still a part of his woodworking skills and passion.
Mark Harmon
Woodworker/craftsman apprentice
Mark is a native of Southwest Missouri. He grew up, attended grade school, and spent most of his life in Noel, then attended McDonal County High School in Anderson, graduating in 19981. He continued his education, achieving a Associate of Arts degree from Pittsburgh State University in Pittsburgh, Kansas, in 1983.
He served 10 years in the U.S. Coast Guard (1984 to 1994), working on radio and navigation equipment, and received an Honorable discharge as an E5, First Class Petty Officer.
Mark began working for his parents, who owned Harmon Lumber Company in Noel, at the age of 12. Mark also worked for his grandmother, who owned Harmon Hardware in Noel. At this very young age, Mark was introduced to retail sales, product stocking, and managing inventory in both family-owned businesses.
Growing up working in the hardware and lumber industry, Mark learned a great deal about terminology, characteristics, purposes, and uses of various tools, hardware, wood, paint and finishes, and other similar items.
However, he never had the opportunity to learn how to combine this knowledge with the practical experience of constructing or building products. As a result, Mark has always had a curiosity, desire and passion to work with wood.
He is excited and happy to finally have that opportunity and is part of the team here at Woodsy’s Woods, serving an informal apprenticeship.
Mark lives in Bella Vista, Arkansas.
